Lesson plan by Leah Robertson (Canada)

Grade: 9

In this sculpture task students will explore opportunities to understand various forms and apply sculptural techniques strategies to a variety of media such as clay, plaster, paper-mache and found materials (their choice relating to the message of the mask).

Students will demonstrate an understanding of three-dimensional applications of the elements and principles of design both in their own work and that of sculptors throughout history.

The main focus will be personal reflections about the human experience, about responsibilities to the environment and about the transformation from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
