FAUVISME
Lesson plan by Debbie Shaw (Canada)
19/11/02

Grade: K6 - 7

To imitate the style of the fauvistes, have students draw a portrait of a friend of self-portrait.
Then have them use pastels or bright coloured paints to create the fauvist look.
For example: all elevated areas of the face (forehead, chin, nose) will be coloured in purple: all low-lying sections (around eyes, below nose etc) will be blue: all hair (lashes, eyebrows, hair) will be green. etc. etc.

It is quite effective!
